Why Quitting Your Corporate Job Won't Fix Your Identity Crisis as a New Mum

Three episodes and one framework that explain why the job was never the real problem, and what to do instead.

I spent 10 years in corporate and that was my entire identity. Then I had my son and I was deeply confused because everything that felt so clear before, just did not anymore.

Yes, I was ambitious but I also wanted to be with my child and felt guilty for needing to leave him. So, I did what many ambitious women do: I thought leaving my job for a while would make me feel better.

Spoiler: It didn't.

It made me realise the real problem isn't the job. It's that nobody told me what was actually happening to me.

Is this you? I see this all the time. Ambitious women, feeling lost in motherhood, and their first thought is always the same: Something is wrong. Maybe if I just leave my job, I'll have time to figure this out. I'll be present. I'll feel like myself again.

Or the opposite thought: Maybe I need to stay and push myself to go back to my old life as quick as possible. Maybe I need a better routine, more help, a different schedule, something else.

And then you're making huge decisions from a place of confusion. Trying everything, making new routines, optimising and trying to control stuff that's uncontrollable. I have been there too.

But guess what? The solution won't be leaving or not leaving at this stage.

What's inside

Three episodes.

01

Why Leaving Your Corporate Job Won't Solve Your Identity Crisis as a New Mum

What really happens when you leave, what really happens when you stay, and the actual problem underneath both that nobody prepared you for.

02

Who You Actually Are Right Now

We look at your identity, your nervous system and the beliefs you're carrying that were never yours in the first place, with exercises you can try before the baby wakes up.

03

Who You're Becoming (And How to Get There)

How to figure out who you want to become, how to actually get there and how to stay there when life gets messy, which with small children is roughly every Tuesday.

Plus you'll get:

  • The BECOME framework (B-E-C-O-M-E) you can use to understand your transformation
  • Real exercises built into each episode
  • Permission to become someone different

Hi, I'm Jackie

I'm an Identity & Motherhood Coach and a former corporate leader in tech. I lived through the exact identity crisis I'm talking about in this podcast. I left my job thinking that would solve it. It didn't. That's when I did the real work, understanding what was happening to my identity instead of running away from it, and it changed how I show up as a mum and in my work. Now I guide ambitious women through this same transformation.

The identity crisis of motherhood is real, it has a name, and it gets a lot less scary once someone finally explains it to you, ideally before you've handed in your notice.

You'll also receive my Notes on Becoming.

I help ambitious women redefine who they are in motherhood.
